McFaddin-Ward House

The McFaddin-Ward House, located in Beaumont, Texas,  was built in 1905-06 in the striking and distinctive Beaux-Arts Colonial style. The structure and its furnishings reflect the lifestyle of the prominent family who lived in the house for seventy-five years.

During the month of Janurary 2006, the third floor which consisted of two bedrooms, a billard room, a bath and a central hall were all papered with period wallpapers. Each of these rooms consisted of planks which were covered with stretched muslin then papered.  The only surviving original wallpaper was found in the bathroom. That paper was reproduced by Laura McCoy Designs Inc. and was the only paper receiving a coat of varnish just as the original.  The following photos were taken during and after the installation.
